Jay-Z News: Roc Nation Officially Signs Geno Smith

Two days after presenting new client Skylar Diggins with a Mercedes graduation gift, Roc Nation has inked new Jet quarterback Geno Smith to a representation deal.

Smith, who is expected to compete for a starting spot in his rookie season, intimated that he simply felt comfortable with the hip hop icon turned business mogul.

“I think it’s a good move,” he told The New York Daily News. “My family is comfortable with it; I’m comfortable with it and I know it’s not because of an image thing.”

Smith joins Diggins, Yankees star Robinson Cano and New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz in Roc Nation’s growing stable. Just last Sunday, Diggins tweeted pictures of a new Mercedes presented to her by boss as a graduation present.

“I got 99 problems and a Benz ain’t one,” she later tweeted, referencing one of Jay’Z’s biggest all-time hits "99 Problems." With the way rookie NFL contracts are now structured, actual negotiations aren’t expected to be that difficult, but it is another feather in Jay-Z’s cap as he attempts to attract more clients to Roc Nation Sports.

After cutting Tim Tebow and with David Garrard forced to retire, Smith is expected to compete head-to-head with returning starter Mark Sanchez for the team’s starter position.
