San Antonio Spurs star guard Tony Parker is slated to have an MRI on his bothersome left calf over the next 24 hours, according to ESPN.
Parker is hoping not to miss any time in the Spurs Western Conference Finals series against Memphis, which they currently lead 2-0.
“It’s just to make sure,” Parker said of the injury that greatly limited in the team’s previous playoffs series, including their hard-fought semifinal round win over Golden state.
Parker has clearly paced the San Antonio attack in their first two wins over the Grizzlies, netting 35 points, and 27 assists before over flow crowds of adoring fans. His 18 assists in Game 2 represented a career high.
Parker termed the team’s three-day break between games “a perfect time for me.”
According to ESPN, following the Spurs Game 1 win and Parker’s 20 points, 9 assist virtuoso performance, the all-star guard received death threats some speculate were related to his dominant showing.
Police say a call was made from an area pay phone to the stadium threatening to do harm to Parker, who following the game was escorted to his home by authorities.
With a berth in the NBA Finals on the line, Game 3 is scheduled Saturday night in Memphis.
