Sheldon Richardson made himself a candidate for the NFL's next round of drug testing when he recently remarked that he and JJ Watt are playing at similar levels. Maybe Richardson just has not seen any Texans games this year, but Watt has more in common with the X-Men than he does with any other NFL linemen.

Clever Fans Respond To DeMarco Murray's 'Man of the Year' Award Nomination

According to media reports, Richardson believes that he is just as good as JJ Watt. "J.J. Watt, he's got a few more sacks than me, but it's the same type of disruption," said Richardson Thursday.

"He's a little more active, I'll give you that, but we have the same type of determination, same heart, same skills. He scores touchdowns, I score touchdowns."

Richardson was the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year last season, and he has unquestionably been one of the lone bright spots on an awful Jets team this season. Still, JJ Watt is a legitimate MVP candidate, and if Aaron Rodgers struggles in his final two games, Watt could become the first defensive player in nearly 30 years to win the NFL's highest honor.

Aaron Rodgers Defends Jay Cutler

Watt was the 2012 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and he will walk away with the award again this season. He has 16.5 sacks compared to Richardson's 6.5, and Watt also has five touchdowns on the season. Three of those TDs came on offense, where the Texans will split Watt out wide near the goal line and throw fade routes to him. Just read that again. Watt leads the league in quarterback pressures (having more by himself than some entire teams), as well as batting down numerous passes and forcing and recovering multiple fumbles.

"The same people you see mentioned every day, getting big contracts, I'm on the same level," Richardson said. "I don't put them over me, I don't put them under me. Most definitely, it's the same comparison, really. You name it, I'll put myself up there. I'm not scared to say it. You don't get to this point not being confident. If somebody calls me cocky, oh well, they'll get over it."

Richardson has a chance make his first Pro Bowl this season, and he is right when he says that he has played excellent football. But he clearly has no idea what level JJ Watt is on. He is on another level from everyone.
