Cam Newton really is Superman.
Newton is back at practice just eight days after a scary car accident left him with two fractures in his back.
Cam Newton Car Crash Photos, Updates
Panthers backup Derek Anderson performed ably in the team's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday, but team officials are hoping Newton will be healthy enough for this Sunday's match-up against Cleveland. Despite being 5-8-1 on the season, Carolina remains in the thick of the NFC South playoff hunt.
Newton looked relatively spry in practice for a man having just experienced a horrific crash. He was rolling out of the pocket and completing passes of up to 60-yards, according to Pro Football Talk.
No Charges Expected in Wake of Cam Newton Car Accident
If Newton actually takes the field on Sunday, it'll be quite the achievement, given that just last week this is the truck he was climbing out of. That he's still alive, let alone playing a contact sport, is remarkable in and of itself.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is playing it cautiously, however, when it comes to the prospect of Newton's playing time Sunday.
