Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET the Brooklyn Nets (10-13) will travel to Toronto where they will meet the Atlantic Division leading Raptors (19-6) as the first part of an NBA double-header on ESPN. While the Raptors are cruising along on a three-game winning streak, the Nets are coming off a loss Tuesday night to a Miami Heat team without Chris Bosh, and are playing under the weight of trade speculation.
Recently it was reported that the entire core of the team is essentially up for grabs to any team willing to absorb some big contracts. Nets center Mason Plumlee is trying to block out all the negativity surrounding the team right now and focus solely on getting back in the win column.
"We need to go up (to Toronto) and get a win, so whatever we gotta do," Plumlee said. "Back to back, it doesn't matter, we just need to go get a win."
Brooklyn should have the advantage at shooting guard, as Toronto has been without DeMar DeRozan since November 30. The Raptors have adjusted without him though, going 6-3 in his absence. They are in the midst of a six-game stretch vs. sub-.500 teams, and are taking advantage of this soft part of their schedule, going 3-0 in the first three tilts.
They are scoring 107 points a night, good for second-best in the NBA, while the Nets have struggled defensively, giving up 98 points per game.
