Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday, and he could not help but take a few shots at some possible future employers while he was on his media tour. Mariota appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman to read the nightly Top Ten list, and he had an unexpected joke thrown in for the audience.

Rex Ryan Says Mariota 'Not Worth Tanking For'

Mariota read the list, which was titled 'Top Ten Thoughts That Went Through Marcus Mariota's Mind When He Won The Heisman Trophy.'

There was a good assortment of the usual jokes in there, but then Mariota got to number three on the list, which read, "I'd like to play in the NFL; does New York have any professional teams?"

Host David Letterman found the joke so funny that he briefly paused the list while he laughed. He also pantomimed a "twisting the knife" gesture before he allowed Mariota to continue reading the list.

Watchs Jets, Titans Brawl During Game

Mariota is projected as a top-five pick in next year's NFL draft, and many experts think that he could go as high as number one. Mariota has surpassed Jameis Winston in the minds of most draft pundits as the best available quarterback prospect.

The Jets have a legitimate shot at picking the top five, and the Giants may also get there if they lose their final two games. While the Giants likely believe that Eli Manning is still the solution at quarterback, the Jets will undoubtedly at least consider drafting Mariota or Winston if either of the two is available when the Jets are on the clock.
