Speaking to BET.com recently, 50 Cent said he expects to sport of boxing "to clean him up," and predicts that "he's going to find out that it's not like any other portion of business that he's been involved in."

“You can’t just buy your way into it by purchasing existing companies and stuff like that,” said 50 Cent, . “You look at the roster of fighters…you have to have experienced people around to run it. But boxing is like the fur coat business…we don’t know how much they actually sold the jacket for.”

50 Cent is no stranger to the world he's analyzing, having found a second career in the sport via SMS Promotions. Now it looks like Jay Z is ready to encroach on his territory.

Jay Z, Solange Working Through Their Problems

Time will tell if 50 Cent's smack talk is proven true. In Jay Z's defense, however, those "other portion(s) of business" are fairly substantial.

In past years Sean Carter has worked in advertising and branding, designed fashion, owned a nightclub and a piece of a sports team, run a record label and sports agency, and published a best selling memoir. Could Jay Z flounder as a boxing promoter? It's certainly possible. But he isn't entering the industry having only run a lemonade stand, either.
