Cristiano Ronaldo's may have to expand his trophy case yet again. The highly decorated soccer superstar was named BBC Overseas Personality of the Year over the weekend. The Portuguese forward is regarded as arguably the best soccer player on the planet, and the award is the latest in a long line of accolades.

Ronaldo Leads Ballon d'Or Finalists

According to media reports, Ronaldo won the award thanks to his incredible 2014 year. He has scored 61 goals in the 58 games that he played in for Real Madrid. Back in May, he also led his squad to victory in the UEFA Champions league, which is considered the most prestigious club competition in the world.

Ronaldo was unable to accept the award in person, but he did make an appearance via video link. Ronaldo's Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale presented him with the trophy. Ronaldo is off to a stellar start in La Liga for the 2014-15 season, and he has a chance to smash the league record for goals scored.

Watch As Teammate Tries To Nutmeg CR7 In Practice

The award comes just days after CR7 made headlines for buying watches for all of his teammates. Ronaldo bought the Bulgari watches for his teammates as a thank you to them for all of the help and hard work. The watches cost in excess of $8,000 and are engraved with "CR7" and "La Decima" to celebrate Real Madrid's 10th European championship.

Ronaldo may have another award coming his way soon, as he is one of three finalists for the Ballon d'Or trophy, which is awarded to FIFA's player of the year.
