Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, the New Jersey Devils (11-15-5, 27 points) and New York Islanders (20-10-0, 40 points) take the ice for the second of four meetings this season live from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island. The game can be live streamed here. New Jersey fans can hear all of the action on WFAN 101.9 while New York fans can do the same on WRHU 88.7.
New Jersey makes its final stop on a three-game road trip and has dropped three matches in a row while New York halted a three-game skid last time out and finishes up a brief two-contest homestand. The Islanders dropped the Devils 3-1 the first time these teams met this season on Nov. 29.
New York is in second place in the Metropolitan Division while New Jersey is five points out of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Devils are coming in off of a 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday that saw Scott Gomez score his first goal for New Jersey in nearly eight years. Gomez had lamented his passing skills upon returning to the Devils.
"I don't think people realize that when you play with certain players who know how to get open, it makes a difference," Gomez said via NJ.com.
The Devils have been paced by Adam Henrique (eight goals, 10 assists) and Jaromir Jagr (five tallies, 13 helpers) thus far this season as they each have 18 points. Mike Cammalleri, meanwhile, is second on the team with 15 points after lighting the lamp 11 times and adding four assists.
The Islanders are coming off of a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday that ended the Hawks' streak of eight straight wins. Kyle Okposo and Lubomir Visnovsky scored less than a minute apart to give New York the win.
"Tonight, against a very good team, we held our composure," Islanders coach Jack Capuano told NHL.com after the game. "Against a very talented team, our guys played well from top to bottom."
Okposo (seven goals, 20 assists) is tied with captain John Tavares (12 markers, 15 helpers) with a team-best 27 points while Brock Nelson has lit the lamp 13 times and added 11 assists for 24 points.
In net, the New York is slated to turn to Jaroslav Halak and he is 15-6-0 with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
New Jersey will likely counter with Cory Schneider and he is 11-14-3 with a 2.61 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
