The Dallas Cowboys are having their best season in years, and Jerry Jones thinks that head coach Jason Garrett is part of the reason for that. Dallas just beat the Philadelphia Eagles to gain control of the NFC East, which prompted Jones to speak up about his head coach.

Jones has always made it known that he believed in Jason Garrett's ability to be a head coach, even back when Garrett was working under then head coach Wade Phillips. When Phillips eventually got the axe, there was no doubt that Garrett would take over the job, and now it seems like his future is also safe.

Jones admits that he does not like to announce these kinds of things officially while the season is ongoing, but he did say that "It's very obvious that he is doing very well and his hard work is paying off."

"The only reason I'm not going to because I've said that I'm just not going to talk about his business," Jones said. "His business in this context is his contract. I'm just not going to talk about that. I haven't talked about it and there's no need to talk about it. We'll sit down after the season and take a look at how things are going.

Jones stuck by Garrett during three 8-8 campaigns that saw Dallas lose a "win and in" divisional game that cost them a playoff berth during week 17 of each season. This season, that faith has paid off, as the Cowboys are 10-4 and poised to win the division and make the playoffs.

Jones even admitted that he did not expect this much success so far this year. "It is beyond my expectation when we started the year that we're sitting here with the wins," said Jones. "It doesn't surprise me when I look at the work of Jason, when I look at the work of the staff, when I look the preparation, when I look at the resolve that they exhibited during our [organized team activities] and training camp, it doesn't surprise me that we've had exceeded our expectation at all."
