The NCAA has ruled injured Louisville guard Kevin Ware will not be able to accept any get-well gifts or cash donations to help pay off medical expenses as he recuperates from the devastating leg injury that could end his career, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Ware was injured during the Cardinals NCAA Tourney-winning run in a nationally televised game that instantly made him a beloved and sympathetic figure.
Since the injury, he has received so much mail that the school university officials installed a private “fan mail sorter” apparatus for him, Yahoo! reports, addiing that many of those packages---namely those including gift cards, restaurant certificates and cash--- are now marked ‘Return To Sender’ and will be heading back as per the NCAA’s ruling.
Even a box of t-shirts that read “Be Ware The Cards” on the front and “United Cards 5” on the back are off limits and will instead be given to a local homeless shelter, Yahoo! adds.
And even several dog toys mailed to Ware for Scar, the dog he got and named after suffering his injury as a reminder of it, is slated to be given back. Ware is still recuperating from his injuries and its unknown if he will be able to return to play next season or if at all.
