Warriors Fans Killed Leaving Game, L.A. Police Investigate

California Highway Patrol now say a pair of Golden State Warriors fans, shot and killed while leaving Thursday night’s playoff game in a bloodbath that slowed Interstate traffic for hours, appear to have been targeted.

Terrance Marks, 28, and Christopher Beardon, 30, were traveling north when witnesses told police someone in a dark sport utility vehicle pulled alongside them and opened fire shortly before midnight, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 2010 Porsche Panamera the victims were traveling in then slammed into the guardrail before veering across traffic. Both victims were wearing Warriors gear and had just left Oracle Arena, where the Warriors season ended in a loss to San Antonio.

Police have not provided a description of the shooter, nor a potential motive. Investigators do stress, however, that the attack appears to have been planned. In the early moments following the attack, investigators ordered thousands of unsuspecting motorists to turn off their engines and silently sit as they scoured the crime scene.

"It appears that this definitely was a targeted event from the way the rounds went into the vehicle," Highway Patrol officer Sam Morgan told The Chronicle. No shots were fired from the Porsche, he said.

Morgan added, officers have all but ruled out road rage as a potential factor.
