Donald Trump loves making a splash, and he made a big one this morning when he announced that he is hiring none other than Tiger Woods to design his new golf course. The 14-time major winner will be working to put together a new course for Trump that will be located in Dubai.

According to media reports, Woods and Trump hope that the course will be able to open by 2017. The course will be the centerpiece of the Trum World Golf Club, Dubai. Woods is just getting into the course design business, and his first ever course is set to open in Mexico in the next few weeks.

Many of the best golfers go on to design courses as they age, and it seems like a logical next step for Woods also. He may have just been able to get a head start on his course design career because of his injury troubles over the past few years.

IOC Rules Changes Aim To Fix Olympics

Woods was once considered a lock to break Jack Nicklaus's all-time record for majors won, which currently stands at 18. However, a litany of injuries and a very public divorce have kept Woods from winning a major in the last several years, although he has come close a few times.

Woods has largely struggled to remake his swing as he recovers from leg injuries. He has been forced to change the way he swings in order to make sure that he can continue playing.

Still, that does little to dampen the enthusiasm Trump has for the hire. Attaching Wodds's name to the project should ensure that it becomes a destination golf resort as soon as it opens. Trump said that he thinks Woods "will be a tremendous asset in developing the course at the Trump World Golf Club, Dubai."
