Prince William and Duchess Kate were in Brooklyn last night to enjoy an up-close look at the Nets and Cavaliers, as well as to support the league's NBA Cares initiative.

After the game, the British royals got to meet up with what passes for basketball royalty around these parts -- namely, King James. However, in the course of their photo-op LeBron put his arm around the Duchess. Harmless, but a breach of "royal protocol" nonetheless. Middleton to her credit was blasé about the incident, but American and British publications alike were quick to highlight James' faux pas.

When it comes down to it, you can't fault James for feeling a little cozy around royalty -- he and the royals have a bit in common! Here are five examples:

Money
LeBron James's net worth is estimated around $270 million dollars, while the Royal Family's resides somewhere around a half a billion.

Children
LeBron has two boys and one daughter. William and Kate famously captivated the Western Hemisphere when their first child, George, who was born during the "Royal Baby" extravaganza in 2013. A second child is on the way.

Fan base
If LeBron thinks his raucous Cleveland crowds are a good time, he should stop by Westminster one of these days.

EPL Football
William is an avid soccer fan, with Aston Villa being his team of choice. LeBron owns a stake in Liverpool FC.

Humanitarianism
William's noted philanthropic efforts include environmentalism and wildlife conservation, while LeBron has patronized charities like the Boys & Girls Club of America, the Children's Defense Fund, and After-School All Stars.
