It doesn't take a expert to guess why Les Miles is so frequently linked to Michigan's head coaching vacancy. Miles has deep ties to the program -- he played there as a student-athlete and served as an assistant coach for seven years under Bo Schembechler and Gary Moeller.

He's also just one of the best coaches in the country, having led LSU to over 100 wins and two BCS national title game appearances (one win).

'Michigan Man' Concept Won't Influence School's Search

However, if Michigan speculation is actually on Miles' mind, he certainly hasn't shown it. When asked about the Wolverines' job recently, Miles kept a poker face.

"That's not even a part of this conversation," the Tigers coach said, per The Advocate. "It's (about promoting) our teams and looking forward to this (bowl game). I'm not in any way giving time to those questions if you don't mind." Miles is also reportedly telling recruits that he intends to stay in Baton Rouge, according to MLive.com.

A Mystery Head Coaching Candidate To Emerge in Michigan Search?

LSU is set to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Music City Bowl.

Michigan fired head coach Brady Hoke after four seasons of up-and-down results. In addition to Miles, pundits have also designated San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh -- a fellow UM alumnus -- as a prime candidate to take the Wolverines job. UM interim athletic director Jim Hackett has said he intends to undertake a patient, lengthy vetting process to selecting a coach.
