Today at 4:00 p.m. ET at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1, 7-1) will shoot to stay atop the College Football Playoff rankings by winning the SEC Championship against the Missouri Tigers (10-2, 7-1) on CBS. The Tide have looked like college football's premier team for most of, if not the entire 2014 season, but a loss in the SEC Championship could mean the sport's top conference has no representatives in the playoff for the title.

Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban spoke about the difficulty of the SEC schedule and how it lends prestige to the participating schools, but can damage their chances at the title.

"I think we have an outstanding league and we have a lot of good teams and the fact that we play each other and end up beating each other probably hurts a little bit," Saban said. "I think some of the teams in our division are really, really good teams and I'm sure there are some other really good teams out there that I have not seen."

While Alabama is favored by more than two touchdowns to win this game, Missouri is a very live underdog. They enter play surrendering just 19.7 points to opponents, and have a playmaking quarterback in Maty Mauk who has racked up 2,279 yards through the air.

The Crimson Tide are confident they'll end up on top though because of their versatility. Heisman contending wide receiver Amari Cooper gives the Tide a vertical threat that isn't always present with Alabama.

"I think it's scary for them," Tide safety Nick Perry said. "Usually 'Bama beats you with defense and running the ball. Now, we can play a whole different type of game. We can put up points or we can shut them down with defense. I think that's scary for other teams."
