In an attempt to exploit the Dutch weight pulled by manager Louis van Gaal, Manchester United have a new star topping their wish list. According to the Guardian (via Goal Transfer Talk), the club is exploring the possibility of signing Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben next summer.

Per the reports, Mats Hummels and Barcelona right-back Dani Alves are also being considered.
Robben featured under Louis van Gaal during the 2014 World Cup. The 30-year-old finished with three goals and an average of 4.9 take-ons, propelling the Oranje to the semifinal round. They would ultimately succumb to Argentina in penalties.

Following the tournament and van Gaal's appointment as United boss, Robben showed full support for his former manager. "I know how it works: If you are not winning, you get the pressure," he said in September (via the Guardian). "But the management at United know what sort of coach they have got and I am very confident he will be successful there."
In addition to the Dutch national team, Robben featured under van Gaal at Bayern Munich in 2009. Together, the two would go on to win the German double.
"I have worked with Van Gaal at Bayern as well as with Holland, so I have known him for a very long time," he continued. "He is one of the few coaches I think who can make teams play better. He makes players better."
"United have some young, talented players and I have no doubts that he will do well at Old Trafford. He will get United back into the Champions League next season, where they belong."
Should van Gaal succeed in doing so, additional funds will be there to bolster the attack-funds that could be thrown in Robben's direction.
