Could the Brennan Clay scandal affect the future of impending free agent DeMarco Murray? Murray is currently set to have his contract with the Dallas Cowboys expire after this season ends. He is the NFL's leading rusher this year, and he has an outside chance at cracking the 2,000-yard barrier if he can put together some big performances down the stretch.

Chip Kelly Would Ignore Florida's Calls

Based on recent history, it seems likely that Jerry Jones would want to re-sign Murray after the season ends. The Cowboys have a history of preferring to reward their stars with nice contracts instead of letting them test the open market. Murray figured to be the latest in a line of Cowboys players to receive a nice pay raise, but could this scandal mean otherwise?

It seems fair to wonder if the other players will behave differently toward Murray going forward, as they probably do not want one of their teammates to sleep with their wives either. And if the scandal gets out of hand, it could even force the Cowboys to make a move to save some face. To this point, Murray and the Cowboys have both remained silent on the matter.

Brady 'Too Old' To Party

With Jerry Jones having a known affinity for Vikings star Adrian Peterson, and with Peterson going through his own public struggles, would the Cowboys take this offesason as an opportunity to go in a different direction?

It is not that hard to imagine a world in which Minnesota releases Peterson, leaving him free to sign with any team. If that were to happen, it would be pretty easy for Dallas to use the Brennan Clay scandal to justify letting Murray walk in free agency and then signing Peterson, who has previously expressed interest in Dallas, to replace him.

Such a move would allow both players to get fresh starts, and the Cowboys and Vikings would be able to move on from a player that stirred up some bad publicity for the franchise.
