Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar's contract with the WWE expires in the spring, and the fighter is reportedly interested in a return to mixed martial arts. Initial speculation seemed to assume that Lesnar would head back to UFC where he made his name and has held the title, but Bellator MMA is at least considering trying to lure Lesnar into being Bellator's "Next Big Thing."

UFC President Dana White has previously discussed the idea of Lesnar returning to the octagon, and he seemed eager to have him back with the company. White also went on to dismiss the notion that Lesnar would consider joining Bellator MMA. He mentioned that someone like Lesnar should only fight the best opponents, and the best fighters fight in UFC.

According to media reports, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker has definitely considered trying to lure the big guy to their organization. "We've had a conversation internally and it's worth a conversation, but that's something we'll pursue maybe later into January," said Coker.

UFC Champ Wants To Fight Russian President?

Bellator does not draw pay-per-view revenue the way that UFC does, but they have still managed to orchestrate big paydays for MMA stars like Tito Ortiz, who reportedly collected around $300,000 for his most recent fight with Bellator.

Obviously if Bellator wants to ever be on equal footing with UFC, they need to continue to feature fights that have star power, and there is arguably no bigger MMA star than a healthy Brock Lesnar.

"I would say, look, any fighter that's out there or any star athlete... that really wants to fight, we're going to have a conversation with them. Because if they can move the needle, we're going to want them on Spike TV," said Coker.

"I think that [Lesnar] is a big needle mover," Coker added.
