The St. Louis Cardinals (26-13) enter their Wednesday afternoon matchup against the New York Mets (14-23) riding the momentum of a three-game winning streak and taking eight of their last ten games. The teams will face off at Busch Stadium at 1:45 p.m. ET and can be seen live on Fox MIDW, SNY, MLB.com with a paid subscription or free here live.

New York, on the other hand, has fared quite differently as of late. The Mets are facing a six-game losing streak and have a 2-8 record in their last 10 games.

The Cardinals currently hold a 3-0 advantage in the four-game series between the two teams and have played a major role in the Mets losing streak. New York has been outscored 41-16 by opponents during the six-game skid and held to a .195 batting average.

The Mets will have a tall order in attempting to change their recent lack of success when they face St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright (5-2). Wainright currently holds a 2.30 ERA and is coming off a complete-game shutout performance in which he took a no-hitter into the eighth and earned his fifth win of the season.

New York will also need to slow down the streaking bat of Cardinals center fielder Jon Jay. Jay is hitting .439 with 12 RBIs over his last 12 games and contributed a key RBI in St, Louis' 4-2 victory Wednesday.

New York will start left-hander Jonathon Niese (2-4), Niese has struggled this season, specifically since his last win on April 12 against Minnesota. Since then, the lefty has gone winless and holds a 7.71 ERA, allowing 15 runs and walking nine in his last two starts.

The Mets will also need a big performance from their slumping superstar David Wright. Wright struck out three times Wednesday and has no home runs and just one RBI in the last nine games for the Mets.
