David Beckham Retiring: Manchester United Great Retiring At End Of Season

David Beckham, one of the biggest stars in soccer history, is retiring from the sport at the age of 38 according to reports.

According to BBC.com, Beckham's storied career includes 115 appearances for England, and 394 with Manchester United, one of the most famous soccer clubs in the world. Beckham's latest deal was with Paris St. Germain, and he donated all of the earning toward charity.

"I'm thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level," Beckham said. "If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over 100 times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy," he said.

"I'm fortunate to have realized those dreams."

In his long career Beckham has also suited up for Real Madrid and the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer in the United States; at both stops Beckham came away with titles. Even though Beckham spent time playing in the United States, he will be forever known as one of England's finest players.

"I'm honored to represent England both on and off the pitch. ... I want to thank all my teammates, the great managers that I had the pleasure of learning from. I also want to thank the fans who have all supported me and given me the strength to succeed."
