Clemson is the ranked team in today's clash, and will be the favorite, but South Carolina has owned this rivalry. The Gamecocks are winners of five straight matchups against Clemson, whose high-powered offenses have continually been stuffed.

Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris blames mental lapses, and subsequent turnovers for their problems against Steve Spurrier's group. I thought we played really well offensively," Morris said.

"I thought we ran the ball efficiently, but when you look at the history of this game the last five years, it boils down to turnovers. When you put yourself behind against a quality opponent, it doesn't matter who you play it's tough to catch up."

The offense may continue to struggle this week, even against a Gamecocks team in a down season. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is questionable for this tilt, and has already missed four games this year. "We're actively preparing for any scenario that we'll have," Morris said. Watson's status may not be known until game time.

Spurrier, the Gamecocks' head coach, is billing this as a game for their dignity. "Obviously, this is our big game of the year now," Spurrier said.

"We're not in contention for any divisional or SEC stuff, so this is the state championship game. We've got to get ready to go up there and play our best game of the year."
