The Houston Texans have been waiting all season for the number one overall draft pick to pair with JJ Watt to form a devastating pass rush. After weeks of delays, Jadeveon Clowney finally returned to the field recently, but now he may be missing more time thanks to his troublesome knee.

Former Bills LB Debated Suicide

According to media reports, Clowney played through pain in his most recent game, and he has experienced a lot of swelling in his surgically repaired knee. Clowney has not practiced all week, and his playing status for Houston's game this weekend against the Tennessee Titans is up in the air.

"A lot of pain right now, just been bothering me off and on the whole season," said Clowney. "Something I've got to push through, but when the swelling comes up, it's a little setback."

Week 13 NFL Picks

Those words surely strike fear into the hearts of Texans fans after expecting great things from the man who was billed as one of the best pass rushing prospects since Lawrence Taylor.

Instead, there have been many stories wondering if there was a lot of truth in the reports that surfaced before the draft suggesting that Clowney does not have the requisite desire or work ethic to succeed at the professional level.

Clowney did play a season-high 49 snaps against the Bengals last week, but he may have made matters worse by playing on a knee that he said was bothering him throughout the week in practice leading up to the game.

"I'm kind of surprised; I thought it would have been over," said Clowney. "I thought it'd be back to where it was by now. Some people react differently to injuries. ... Right now I just think it's letting it heal. You push it, push it, then it swells. You've got to let it go back down again. Right now just letting it heal and try to get it back to where it was before I got hurt, before the Cleveland game [two weeks ago]."
