Many fans are now familiar with CTE and other diseases that stem from repeated head trauma thanks to lawsuits against the NFL by former players. The symptoms of such diseases are also common knowledge at this point, and many troubled former NFL players are found to have suffered incredible amounts of brain damage from playing the game they loved.

Seahawks Players Blast NFL During Press Conference

Add former Buffalo Bills linebacker Darryl Talley to the ever-growing list of players suffering from psychological problems after finishing an NFL career. According to media reports, Talley says he cannot accurately estimate the number of concussions he probably sustained during his NFL career, which spanned 14 years. "Too many to count," says Talley about his concussion total.

Talley did say that there were at least 75 times that he saw stars or light after taking or delivering a hit during a game. He adds that he now suffers from memory loss and has trouble sleeping, and he has battled depression. He even says that he has contemplated suicide in the past.

In addition to the neurological issues, Talley deals with pain almost constantly as a result of the various injuries he sustained during his playing days and the 14 operations he underwent to repair those injuries. He considers the pain and the neurological issues direct results of having played in the NFL for over a decade, and the lingering pain from the litany of injuries is taking its toll on Talley. "I'm not convinced that I'm dead yet," he said. "But the future doesn't look bright."
