Tonight at 8 p.m. ET, the Edmonton Oilers (6-14-2, 14 points) and Nashville Predators (14-5-2, 30 points) face-off in Thanksgiving night action live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Edmonton has lost seven games in a row while Nashville enters play in search of its third straight win and leads the Central Division. The Predators have beaten the Oilers in both prior meetings this season and topped them 3-2 in the last one on Nov. 11.
The Oilers haven't beaten a Western Conference team in 12 tries and lost 3-2 to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday in a game where Taylor Hall notched his team-best eighth goal of the season.
"I just feel like we're beating ourselves," Oilers right wing Jordan Eberle said via NHL.com after the loss. "That's just how a lot of us feel in here and the good thing is we're able to correct that ourselves. Last year, teams were beating us. This year, we're beating ourselves."
Eberle leads the team with 15 points off of four goals and 11 assists while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has 14 points off of five tallies and nine helpers and Hall is third on the team with 13 points.
The Predators are coming off of a 4-3 victory against the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings that saw Craig Smith notch his seventh goal of the campaign.
Early Calder candidate Filip Forsberg leads the Predators with 22 points off of nine goals and 13 assists and also paces the NHL with a plus-22 rating.
Mike Ribeiro has five markers and 12 helpers to rank second on the team with 17 points while James Neal has found the back of the net nine times while adding five assists for 14 points.
In net, Nashville is probable to turn to Pekka Rinne and he is tied for the NHL lead with 14 wins while ranking second in the league with a 1.97 goals-against average and third with a .927 save percentage.
Edmonton is likely to counter with Ben Scrivens in the crease and he is 4-9-1 with a 3.35 GAA and a .887 save percentage.
