Will Muschamp is hoping to make his final game with the Gators one they'll never forget.

The University of Florida announced two weeks ago that Muschamp would not be returning to the program in his role of head coach next season, after four rocky years. Saturday's game against in-state rival, and No. 3 ranked Florida State is his swan song.

OK State's Mike Gundy "Pursuing" Florida Job?

If Muschamp is hoping to shock the undefeated Seminoles on their home field, he can look to ten years ago for the precedent. That was when then-Gators coach Ron Zook, also a lame duck HC at the time, took UF to Tallahassee and beat a ranked Florida State team, 20-13.

Muschamp says he's aware of that moment in Gators history, but declined to say it would have any affect on Saturday's proceedings. "It is what it is," he said, per the Orlando Sentinel. "I mean that ain't gonna help us win the game, I can assure you of that."

Florida State is very good, but not the impregnable juggernaut they were during last year's national title season. The Seminoles struggle to get out in front during the first half of games, and often play down to the level of weaker competition. Muschamp and his players have to know that the opportunity for an upset is ripe for the taking.

"Love my chances, love our chances," UF sophomore defensive end Alex McCalister said. "We've got the whole team clicking."

Florida Coaching Decision Expected By Christmas?

Additionally, despite his flaws, the Gators locker room seems to truly love and respect Muschamp. There's little doubt they'll come out fired up on his behalf.

Defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard, for instance, wrote "Mus" and "Champ" on his eye-black strips during last Saturday's game.
