Over the years, there have been a number of MMA fighters that decided to make the switch to professional wrestling, although not all of them were successful in their bids to do so. There have also been some professional wrestlers that made the transition to mixed martial arts.

The fighters usually have mixed results in their new field, probably because their opponents are far more experienced than them. However, sometimes, people can succeed in both areas. Here are five guys that did:

Josh Barnett

Barnett began dabbling in professional wrestling overseas in the early 2000s after he had already experienced a solid career in mixed martial arts, including a stint as the UFC heavyweight champion. He was equally popular in MMA and wrestling, a rare feat. He eventually got back into MMA, and he is currently the No. 6 ranked heavyweight in UFC.

Bobby Lashley

Lashley spent the early part of his career fighting MMA for Strikeforce and other companies before moving to the WWE, where he eventually became the two-time ECW World Champion. Lashley currently wrestles for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and he won his most recent MMA fight in October at Bellator 130.

Dan Severn

Severn started in the early years of the UFC and had great success, eventually becoming a UFC Hall of Famer. He eventually moved to professional wrestling, where he also won the NWA World Championship twice.

Brock Lesnar

Probably the most famous current example of an MMA fighter-turned-wrestler, Lesnar is currently the WWE world champion, and he also is a former UFC heavyweight champion. He is reportedly considering a return to MMA as early as next spring.

Ken Shamrock

The World's Most Dangerous Man is a mixed martial arts legend. He is a UFC Hall of Famer, and he later became one of the best professional wrestlers, winning numerous championships during his time in the World Wrestling Federation (now the WWE).
