Philadelphia Eagles running back LaSean McCoy now claims quarterback Michael Vick jumped the gun when he infamously dusted him in a foot race late last month, according to reports.
The always talkative McCoy said on Monday Vick left before the gun in their widely publicized 40-yard dash. The two squared off after McCoy challenged the speedy quarterback with taunts of “old man.”
According to ProFootballTalk.com, Vick tired of all the talk and sought permission to put it to a rest once and for all by getting permission from first-year coach Chip Kelly to take on McCoy in a 40-yard dash.
Vick, 32, crushed McCoy by more than five yards, briefly silencing his brash teammate. McCoy told the Philly Inquirer he now has video proof that Vick cheated, though he has yet to provide it.
Vick has yet to respond to McCoy’s tirade and there’s now word that a rematch might be on the horizon.
In the meantime, McCoy might want to spend a little time getting to know all his new teammates a little better. The Eagles meet this week for off-season minicamp, and according to The Inquirer, McCoy spent much of the day referring to rookie quarterback Matt Barkley as Mark.
Vick, Barkley and Nick Foles are all expected to compete for the starting quarterback job in Kelly’s high-powered offense.
