Jon "Bones" Jones is the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, and he is set to defend his title against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 in January. But all anyone wants to talk about right now are the outcomes of a hypothetical bout between Jones and elite UFC heavyweight Cain Velasquez.

Luke Rockhold is Velasquez's training partner at AKA, and he is currently sparring with Cormier in preparation for the title match. According to media reports, he also had some strong words about a potential Jones-Velasquez showdown.

"Not a chance," said Rockhold of the hypothetical bout. "Cain, just the storm that he can put on you, you can't stop it. I've trained with the guy, I've sparred with him so many times, and when he wants to get after you, he's going to get after you. You can only run away so long. Jon Jones doesn't have the style to keep him off him. Cain is just a beast, he'll bull his way right through him."

Would Lesnar Consider Joining Bellator?

Jones has previously expressed interest in eventually moving up to the heavyweight division if he works through the remaining light heavyweight challengers, and he reiterated those sentiments recently.

When speaking about the Cormier fight and possibly facing the winner of the upcoming Alexander Gustafsson-Anthony Johnson bout, Jones said, "[After] those two fights, I would consider the division clear, and that's when I would start to entertain superfights. Superfights I would go for. I've been training with heavyweights for years now. I know what it feels like, and I think I would do really good against them. So that would be the next chapter."

Obviously Jones has to win the aforementioned fights first, but that is a fun possibility for UFC fans to entertain. Jones has previously stated that he thinks his tall frame would easily allow him to add the weight necessary to compete with many of the smaller UFC heavyweights.
