NBA Playoffs: Tyson Chandler Calls Knicks Teammates Selfish

Just when the New York Knicks hoped things couldn’t get any worse in their Eastern Conference semifinal showdown with the Indiana Pacers, internal strife now seems to be brewing.

After shooting just 35 percent and scoring only 71 points in Game 3, center Tyson Chandler is now chastising teammates over shot selection and “being selfish.”

“Honestly,” Chandler told the New Post, “I think we’re doing it to ourselves. I watched the tape myself and there’s open looks. We have to be willing passers. You have to sacrifice yourself sometimes for the betterment of the team, for the betterment of your teammates.

Count Carmelo Anthony among those who heard what his teammate had to say, though he sternly disagrees with his views.

“I don’t want to go back and forth with that,” he said. “I don’t know exactly what he’s talking about. But if he feels that way, we’re about to get together right now amongst ourselves and figure that out and get his take and perspective. We’ll handle that internally and figure it out among ourselves.”

Ahead of it all, Chandler was sure to stress he didn’t think any of his teammates were behaving “maliciously.”

“I think it’s more so you get in a situation where you want to take over the game or you want to make a big shot, where you have to just stick to the game-plan. Good teams win basketball games, unless you’re a great, great, great, great individual.”
