Spike TV has commented on TNA finding a new home with Destination America for Impact Wrestling in the wake of the announcement being made Wednesday afternoon.

TNA president Dixie Carter revealed that TNA will begin airing its flagship program on Discovery Communications' Destination America starting in January and Spike TV, the former home of the show, issued a release on the signing.

Spike TV president Kevin Kay issued the following statement courtesy of Wrestlingheadlines.com:

"Our partnership with TNA Wrestling will officially come to an end with our last telecast on December 24.

Dixie Carter and her team have been incredible partners to work with over the past 9 years, delivering high-action entertainment and strong ratings.

As Spike continues to evolve into a network reaching a broader audience, we continue to look across our schedule to find opportunities to add original scripted and non-scripted programming that appeals to a wider demographic.

On behalf of everyone at Spike, we would like to wish Dixie and TNA all the best and continued success.

Kevin Kay President, Spike TV"

It was originally announced earlier this year that Spike TV would be dropping Impact Wrestling from its network last month when the contract between the two sides expired, but the station opted to be a good partner and keep it on through 2015 while the organization searched for a new network home for its flagship show.

Many different networks were linked to bringing TNA on board and there was even speculation that Impact Wrestling may remain on Spike TV, but in the end Destination America became the new network home.

After months of speculation, the fate of Impact Wrestling was revealed Wednesday and Carter commented on the company striking a deal with Destination America.

"We are very excited about Destination America being the new network for IMPACT WRESTLING and the partnership with Discovery Communications both domestically and across the globe," Carter said in a full statement that can be read here.

On Wednesday night's edition of Impact Wrestling, which is expected to be the last new episode for a while and the last new one to air on Spike TV, Taryn Terrell defeated Havok and Gail Kim to win the TNA Knockouts Championship while Low Ki defeated Manik, Tigre Uno and DJ Zema Ion to win the vacant X-Division Championship.

TNA and Spike TV have parted ways on good terms and now Impact Wrestling will have a new home for the New Year.
