After absolutely demolishing the No. 5 team in the nation last night, it is understandable why the hype machine is going a little bit crazy over the Kentucky Wildcats. But can you blame anyone? The Wildcats defeated Kansas by 32 points, holding the fifth-ranked Jayhawks to under 20 percent shooting for the game.

Big Men Primed to Dominate College Basketball

After their final preseason tune-up, Kentucky looked so dominant that it prompted an opposing coach to say, "Those guys are unreal. I told the guys in the locker room, [Kentucky] could have beaten some NBA teams tonight, there's no question in my mind."

Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal ran a story questioning whether the Wildcats could beat the Philadelphia 76ers. It may not be as ridiculous as it sounds, as Kentucky is expected to have at least five players selected in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft, and the 76ers are tanking so blatantly that lottery reform has once again become a key issue in NBA circles.

Calipari Closes Off Practices

The current record for wins in a single season is 38, and it is shared by two teams Calipari previously coached - the 2008 Memphis Tigers and the 2012 Kentucky squad that won the national title. The 2014-15 Wildcats are currently 3-0 with 28 regular season games remaining. If Kentucky were to go undefeated, they would be the top seed in the SEC tournament, meaning they would only need to win three games to win the conference.

After the conference tournament, the NCAA tournament would arrive, which would allow the Wildcats to play as many as six more games. Add it all up, and an undefeated season would put Kentucky at 40-0, setting a new single-season wins record and giving them a national title. After last night, it certainly looks like the sky is the limit for this squad.
