What They're Saying

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien (via CAF Online): "I hardly played in Brazil, which was disappointing for me personally and as a whole we didn't do well based on our performances and experience at past World Cups. [The year] 2014 didn't live up to expectations, and overall, it was a poor campaign.

"The semifinals prediction [I made] was an ambitious one," he added. "But it's always good to have high ambitions and we certainly set out to do better than 2010. Unfortunately, we didn't get anywhere near that because we didn't win games. Apart from the Germany game, which we could have even won, the rest of the games were just not sufficient to see us advance from the group stages."

Tactical Preview

Player to Watch: Ghana's Andrew Ayew has been instrumental during the qualification stage of the tournament. The 24-year-old has two goals and is continuing his stellar club form at Olympique Marseille, in which he also carries two goals in league play.

Ghana's Projected Lineup (4-2-2-2): Braimah - Afful, Baba, Boye, Mensah - Rabiu, Badu - Asante, Wakaso, Waris, Jo Ayew

Togo's Projected Lineup (4-4-2): Akakpo, Donou, Dakonam, Amevor - Ouro Akoriko, Segbefia, Floyd Ayité, Gakpé, Dossevi, Adebayor
