San Jose has won two of its last three games while Buffalo snapped a five-game losing streak last time out, but has the least amount of wins and points in the NHL. The first time these two teams met, the Sabres topped the Sharks 2-1 on Oct. 25.

The Sharks are wrapping up a seven-game road trip and coming off of a 2-0 victory where Tomas Hertl and Joe Thornton each scored a goal and rookie Troy Grosenick set an NHL record by recording 45 saves to complete a shutout in his debut.

"We thought he could be a rallying point, there is no doubt about it," coach Todd McLellan said of his young goalie after the game, according to NHL.com. "As the night went deeper and deeper, the players believed they could get the job done because he was playing so well. We started to play the way we needed to but they still came after us."

Thornton leads the Sharks with 18 points by way of lighting the lamp seven times and adding 11 assists while Joe Pavelski (eight goals, nine assists) and Brent Burns (six tallies, 11 helpers) each have 17 points.

The Sabres play the middle match of a three-game home stand after defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-2 in a game where they scored their most tallies of the season. Zemgus Girgensons notched two tallies in the win.

"We've had a tough season and it's hard enough when you don't win games, but today was absolutely different how we played," Girgensons told NHL.com after the win. "Ten times better than what we've done."

Girgensons is third on Buffalo with 10 points, finding the back of the net six times and adding four assists thus far while Tyler Ennis (six goals, six assists) and Drew Stafford (four markers, eight helpers) each pace the team with 12 points.

Buffalo announced that Michal Neuvirth will return to the crease after making 32 stops on 34 shots against Toronto and he is 3-5-1 with a 2.96 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.

San Jose is likely to counter with Antti Niemi and he is 7-6-1 thus far with a 2.61 GAA and a .917 save percentage.

The Sharks look to avenge an Oct. 25 loss while the Sabres hope to sweep the season series when the puck drops tonight at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo.
