Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has weighed in on comments Robert Griffin III had made about teammates following Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay. And not one to mince words, Gruden came out hot against his starting quarterback.

Following a 27-7 blowout at the hands of the 1-win Buccs, RG3 publicly called out his teammates, saying that great quarterbacks "don't play well if their guys don't play well."

When asked about those comments at his weekly Monday press conference, Gruden provided a stern rebuke to the sentiments Griffin expressed.

“Robert needs to understand he needs to worry about himself number one and not everybody else. It’s his job to worry about his position, his footwork, his fundamentals, his reads, his progressions, his job at the quarterback position,” Gruden said.

“It’s my job to worry about everybody else. Everybody else needs to improve, there’s no question about it. But it’s not his place. His place is to talk about himself and he knows that. He just elaborated a little bit too much and he’ll learn from it. He’s 24 years old and he wants everything to be perfect around him. Yesterday was far from perfect.”

Later on in the presser, Gruden conceded that Griffin's "frame of mind is in the right place."

"It just doesn't come out the right way sometimes," he added.

At 3-7, the Washington Redskins are in total freefall. In addition to RG3's loaded comments, star receiver DeSean Jackson also posted a cryptic -- and profane -- message to his Instagram account that many fans interpreted as knock against his teammates.

In the wake of his head coach's criticism, RG3 took to Twitter for a little bit of damage control.
