The San Francisco 49ers picked off Eli Manning five times on Sunday, but not all is well with Jim Harbaugh's team despite the dominating defensive performance. It seemed that San Francisco was trending upward heading into Sunday's game; they had just beaten the Saints in New Orleans, and star pass rusher Aldon Smith was scheduled to play for the first time in the 2014 season.

Jim Harbuagh Headed to Florida?

Once the game started, however, things started to get dicey. Every week, players start NFL games and do not finish them, but the reason is nearly always because they get injured. Then we get to Ahmad Brooks, who pulled himself from yesterday's game because he was unhappy about his playing time.

According to multiple media reports, Brooks was displeased because he saw a reduction in his playing time as a result of Aldon Smith being available to play in the game. Brooks only played in the first few series of the game, and he did not take the field at all in the second half.

Aldon Smith Reinstatement News

After the game, Brooks confirmed to reporters that he did not leave the game because of an injury. Harbaugh had little to say on the matter, simply stating, "We're working through something."

Brooks also declined to expand on his reasons, telling reporters, "I'm not taking questions today. Maybe later in the week... Yeah, we're working through something."

This incident is simply the latest one in a long line of occurrences that point to turmoil in the San Francisco locker room. Coach Jim Harbaugh has long been rumored to have an acrimonious relationship with the front office; perhaps those tensions have finally begun to affect the rest of the organization.
