Luol Deng Lost 15 Lbs.: Ruled Out For Game 3, May Miss Rest Of Playoffs

Chicago All-Star forward Luol Deng is expected to miss Game 3 of Bulls vs. Heat series and perhaps even the remainder of the series after revealing he lost 15 pounds and still suffers from extreme headaches following his hospital bout last week.

Deng went to the hospital with flu-like symptoms, but doctors soon determined it was something more. Ultimately, after making several emergency room visits, he was given a spinal tap and several blood patch procedures were performed.

“It’s really my first day out of the house and out of the hospital,” Deng told a throng of media following the team’s practice on Thursday. “I want to play, but I don’t know what I can do. I’m weak and I have headaches when I’m moving around a lot.

Deng, who has led the league in minutes played the last two seasons, admits he was scared and at times not in control of his body.

“I’ve never been through anything like that my whole life,” he said. “It was scary for me, scary for everyone that was around me.  I was having severe headaches, was struggling to walk. I started feeling really weak. I started throwing up, constant diarrhea. I couldn’t control my body really. Because of that I lost the weight.  I still don’t feel right.”
