War Machine, the former MMA fighter accused of brutally beating his girlfriend Christy Mack and another man upon finding them together in bed in her home, did little to endear himself during a preliminary hearing.

Mack, an adult film star whose real name is Christine Mackinday, had just told the court that there was a sexual assault involved in the incident when the proceedings were interrupted.

The prosecutor wanted War Machine's reaction of a laugh and a head shake to Mack's testimony to be on the record. War Machine's defense objected and denied he laughed, but Judge Melanie Andress-Tobiasson would corroborated the prosecution's allegation.

"I watched him laugh," Andress-Tobiasson said.

War Machine's behavior has been erratic since the summer, when he hid from authorities for an entire week following the assault. Since being apprehended, the ex-mixed martial artist has written several dark poems to be posted on social media, and tried to kill himself in his jail cell.

He also recently wrote a lengthy letter that was posted online describing his conditions and daily life in jail. In it, he discussed not being able to attend recovery meetings or even get haircuts from the prison barber. "They also don't let us, back here, attend anger management classes or substance abuse classes, none of that. Makes a lot of sense, right? S**t, they even make us wear shackles in the shower! Lol," he wrote.

The man Mack was with during the assault, Corey Thomas, also testified. "My face was covered in dripping blood. She was very scared to death," Thomas said.
