The showdown for the UFC light heavyweight title is creeping back into view for fans now. Daniel Cormier looks to take the title from reigning champion Jon "Bones" Jones in their bout on January 3, 2015.

Jones and Cormier got into a brawl at the MGM Grand in Las Vegast that led to a disciplinary hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission following the incident. The brawl cost him his sponsorship deal with Nike; he has since been linked to sponsorship deals with other companies, and Reebok is believed to be the favorite.

Cormier Doesn't Feel Bad for Skipping Gustafsson

The fight with Cormier was originally supposed to happen in late September, but Jones suffered a leg injury in training camp a little over a month before the match was scheduled to take place. The delay may not be all that bad for Jones, however. Not only will he be able to get healthy prior to the bout, but he can finalize his new sponsorship deal and use the fight as a jumping-off point.

The delay for the bout has done little to quell the anticipation for the matchup. Many people consider Jones to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world, although Cormier is no slouch himself. It all adds up to one of the more anticipated UFC fights in recent memory.

On paper, each fighter has a noticeable advantage over the other thanks to their physical dissimilarities. Jones' wiry frame is familiar to all UFC fans, and he will look to use his height to his advantage in January, as he stands five inches taller than Cormier. On the flip side, Cormier outweighs Jones by nearly 50 pounds, and he will no doubt look to crowd Jones to negate the reach advantage and make the match more about brute strength.
