You would think that a matchup between two Hall of Famers would sell itself. But just in case the Bellator 131 main event needed any extra promotion, both fighters have been happy to oblige.

Fighters have long taken to the media to try and gain any kind of psychological advantage over their opponent by claiming the he juices or cheats in some way.

Bonnar Signs Multi-Fight Deal with Bellator

Tito Ortiz rejected those game plans and came up with something entirely new by claiming that he had successfully planted a double agent in Stephan Bonnar's training camp. Ortiz alleged that he conspired to get Bonnar to accept the fight and that Bonnar's wrestling coach, Paul Herrerra, is in fact working with Ortiz.

Bonnar, of course, claims that the entire story is bunk. "That's hilarious. He's just fishing for something," Bonnar said in a story by MMA Fighting on Nov. 12. He goes on to refute Ortiz's claims that Herrerra is a double agent and says that Herrerra is in fact helping him prepare for some of the wrestling moves that Ortiz uses to great effect in his matches.

Ortiz Announces Return to MMA Fighting

Even if the double agent claims are false, Ortiz does not seem too worried about Bonnar. When asked about Bonnar's Hall of Fame legacy, Ortiz told Sherdog on Nov. 12, "That's what he was known for: getting his a** whipped. Saturday night, I'll finally be able to shut him up. Once and for all."

Both fighters appear to be in great shape heading into the match, so with the verbal sparring wrapping up, everyone can finally focus on what promises to be a great matchup. In a less exciting bit of news, both fighters have passed their drug tests leading up to the fight, so everything appears to be green lit for the showdown this weekend.
