Tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET on Monday Night Football the Carolina Panthers (3-5-1) will head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles (6-2) in Mark Sanchez's first start with his new team. Sanchez, who has not started since December 2012, has the complete confidence of head coach Chip Kelly after a 202-yard, two-touchdown debut for Philadelphia last week in relief of Nick Foles. "He's already ready, he's always focused and always prepared to make plays and that's part of his makeup," Kelly said. "That's what we really liked about him."

Sanchez took the New York Jets to two AFC Championship games before roster depletion and regression in his play eventually led him out of the Big Apple. In his final season as a starter Sanchez threw 13 touchdowns against 18 interceptions.

Receiver Jeremy Maclin, who caught a bomb from Sanchez last Sunday, said Sanchez has been ready to play all year long. "He plays at a high level," Maclin said. "I think he is one of the more game-ready backup quarterbacks in this league."

The Panthers have a chance to stay afloat in the NFC South, one of the NFL's most disappointing divisions. Their loss to the Saints on Thursday Night Football last week dropped them from the top spot, but head coach Ron Rivera thinks they can get back into the division lead.

"I've been in a race like this before, we all have," he said. "It ends up being the team that comes back, that gets up and keeps fighting. The next thing you know, you're right in the thick of things."
