Steve "Sting" Borden has openly said that he would like to compete at WrestleMania 31, and while that may not come to fruition the possibility opens a slew of interesting potential matchups that the former WCW and TNA icon could have at the Show of Shows.

Five Potential Partners For John Cena At The Survivor Series

Sting has been the one former WCW wrestler that Vince McMahon has failed to sign to a deal to wrestle a match in the WWE, but things could be changing now that he has signed a merchandise deal with the company.

Sting has stated he is open to his first match in WWE - and possibly the last of his career -- and here is a look at five potential opponents for Sting at WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on March 29, 2015.

Backstage News On The Undertaker's New Role In The WWE

The Undertaker: This is pretty much the obvious match as it has been rumored for years and both parties have been interested, but it doesn't come without its issues. The Undertaker lost The Streak and was injured in his match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX which may keep him from competing in this bout. Still, The Undertaker hasn't officially announced his retirement and Sting said it doesn't matter if The Streak isn't attached to it, so this could still happen at the Show of Shows in March.

Triple H: Sting said in a recent interview that he would love to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania in an Icon vs. Icon match, but he also mentioned that if The Undertaker can't go, Triple H would be another choice. Whether or not Triple H wants to have a match is up in the air as he only wrestles sporadically now, but he would likely be open to going toe-to-toe with the likes of Sting in a once-in-a-lifetime match.

John Cena: Sting was one of the biggest icons of WCW and there could be the argument made that he was the face of that company before it went by the wayside in 2001. For the last decade now, Cena has been the cornerstone of the WWE as the No. 1 babyface. It is possible the two could engage in a bout between the past face of WCW and the present face of WWE, but this is a contest that remains a long shot. There are rumors Cena will battle Rusev at WrestleMania 31, but it has always been said that anything can happen in the WWE.

Hulk Hogan: There have been rumblings that Hogan wants to have one more match and that he and Sting may each receive retirement matches at WrestleMania, but what if they engaged in a retirement match with each other? Sting and Hogan have squared off before in WCW so there is some history for the WWE to play off there while they could tout how fans can relive their rivalry on the WWE Network. Hogan has said he wants to face Cena, but that seems to be a long-shot with the previously stated Cena vs. Rusev plans. Of course, this match would rely on Hogan, 61, having to pass the necessary physicals to partake in it, so it is unknown if he'll be able to wrestle again.

Bray Wyatt: Sting has praised Wyatt's character as a breakout Superstar in interviews and this could be a match that would feature some fun and unorthodox build up with these two characters. Sting and Wyatt could definitely play off of each other and they offer probably the most interesting past vs. present match that the WWE could put on at this point. "The Eater of World's" vs. the man with the black and white face paint would be a must-see match at Levi's Stadium.

A lot can change between now and WrestleMania 31 in March, but for now it is interesting to wonder who Sting could possibly face at the Show of Shows as the WWE Universe gets closer to Steve Borden stepping into a WWE ring for a match.
