It appears as though injured WWE Superstar Roman Reigns could be back as soon as December or possibly January after being sidelined with a hernia since September.

WWE SmackDown Spoilers For Halloween Edition On Friday

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the WWE has currently penciled Reigns in for a return by December and at the latest January.

Reigns underwent emergency surgery for a hernia on Sept. 20 which was the eve of WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view event. The injury caused the WWE to cancel the planned match between Reigns and Seth Rollins at the event.

Five Potential Partners For John Cena At Survivor Series

Reigns appeared on Monday Night RAW this past week and said his sights are set on Rollins upon his return, which appears to be at least a month or two away. There was some hope that Reigns could perhaps be a member of John Cena's team at Survivor Series on Nov. 23 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, but that appears like it may not be possible.

Since the breakup of The Shield over the summer, there have been big plans for Reigns to become the next top guy in the WWE and those plans were set to evolve over the course of the fall and increase rapidly by 2015.

There have been rumors that Reigns is penciled in to win the 30-man over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble Match on Jan. 25 in Philadelphia and go on to face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 in Santa Clara, Calif.

The early speculation was that the Rumble Match would boil down to the three former Shield members and that Reigns would out-last Rollins and Dean Ambrose to win the match and earn the title shot.

Cena was also expected to face Lesnar for the gold at the Royal Rumble, but he is being advertised for the Rumble Match as well. Cena became the No. 1 contender for the title at Hell in a Cell in Dallas on Sunday night, but it's unknown when he'll get his shot.

There has been a lot of speculation that Reigns is slated to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 where he is expected to walk out with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The WWE seems to have big plans for Reigns in 2015 and it seems the timetable for his return couldn't be any more perfect.
