The WWE began selling CM Punk's merchandise again leading to the belief that the two sides have had some contact and it appears as though the "Best in the World" and the company tied up loose ends while a Punk return remains a long-shot.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, a source that is very close to Punk said that there has been contact between the two sides and they have cleared stuff up so that the WWE can continue to sell his merchandise and Punk will still appear in next year's Flintstones movie.

While the two have agreed on that much, Punk hasn't signed a performance deal since he walked out in January and his contract expired in July, and he is not planning on returning to the WWE.

The source also added that Punk is a retired wrestler and he will not be wrestling for any promotion anytime soon as he appears to be done with wrestling.

Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, owns the CM Punk name and likeness and the WWE lost the rights to it and ability to sell merchandise in July when Punk's contract officially expired. It was reported that Punk's lawyers recently sent a 22-page letter to the WWE regarding the use of his likeness.

When Punk's deal was up in July, he took the rights to his likeness with him despite the fact that the WWE continued to sell his merchandise and included him in the WWE 2K15 video game.

After the letter, it appears everything was cleared up between the two from that standpoint while there is still likely a lot of bad blood.

Punk walked out on the WWE back in January due to his frustration over the way his character was being used as well as due to being burned out by the rigorous travel schedule of the company.

Punk has made many public appearances since his departure, but has not seemed to want to return to the ring anytime soon, even going as far as to tell a reporter at the AP Music Awards that he was "never ever" returning to the squared circle.

Punk was reportedly offered a lucrative deal by TNA that he turned down, a deal which the company disputes, and he was recently backstage at a Ring of Honor event. Punk is not expected to wrestle for any promotion anytime soon.

While Punk and the WWE have cleared up their merchandising issue, the "Best in the World" will not be returning to the ring.
