The WWE announced Monday night on RAW that John Cena will captain his own traditional Survivor Series team against one led by The Authority on Nov. 23 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
WWE Monday Night RAW Results For 10/27/14
The WWE didn't provide too many specifics on the match as the members of Team Authority weren't made clear and Cena only reached out to Dolph Ziggler to be his partner. The company also didn't say if it was a four-on-four or five-on-five bout.
Safely assuming that Ziggler, the Intercontinental Champion, is Cena's partner, here is a look at five possibilities for members of the WWE roster to join Team Cena.
Dean Ambrose: The "Lunatic Fringe" would make sense to join the team because he has been feuding with Seth Rollins and Rollins is presumably on Team Authority. However, with the recent developments between Ambrose and Bray Wyatt, it puts this in question. There is always the chance that The Authority recruits Wyatt for this match and it seems like Ambrose deserves a spot in such a major contest considering his Hell in a Cell bout with Rollins main evented the last pay-per-view.
Sheamus: It seems like the United States Champion could join forces with Cena and the Intercontinental Champion Ziggler to form a team with a deep championship pedigree. Triple H has always been high on Sheamus as well, so it is possible that the WWE will throw the "Celtic Warrior" into this match.
Randy Orton: With the rumors that Orton might be turning babyface and the fact that he delivered an RKO to Rollins on RAW Monday night, it would make sense that Orton would join Team Cena. Despite Cena's wars with Orton in the past, they could develop a mutual respect as they look to take down The Authority. There has been a lot of speculation that Orton or Wyatt will be turning face soon, but judging by Wyatt's new program with Ambrose it appears as though "The Viper" could be the one to turn face in order to spurn The Authority.
Roman Reigns: There have been some reports that Reigns could be closing in on a return soon, and what better way to strike a comeback then at one of the WWE's Big Four pay-per-views? Reigns (hernia) has been sidelined since Sept. 20, but he should be ready to come back soon and he will have Rollins in his sites as evidenced by his promo on RAW. The WWE could even tease a mystery partner for Cena's team and have Reigns return on the night of the show if he is ready to go.
Daniel Bryan: This is a long-shot since it is unknown if Bryan (neck) will have to undergo a second surgery after his mid-May operation. It would be very good for the WWE's depleting babyface roster if the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was ready to come back by Survivor Series and it would be perfect timing. There are reports that Bryan may not return until January's Royal Rumble, but the fact that his status is still so uncertain keeps a return to the ring in long-shot territory. Still, if the WWE could pull off a surprise and have Bryan appear as a mystery partner, it would be an epic Survivor Series moment.
The WWE is focusing on its tradition this year for Survivor Series as Cena looks to build up a strong babyface team in the absence of the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.
