Tonight at 8:07 p.m. ET the San Francisco Giants will try to rebound from their second consecutive World Series loss to the Kansas City Royals, and even up the Fall Classic in Game 4 at AT&T Park. Watch the game on Fox or live stream it free by clicking this link. Royals fans can listen to the game on KCSP 610, while Giants fans can catch the radio broadcast on 680 KNBR. The Royals will send left-hander Jason Vargas to the mound against Giants' right-hander Ryan Vogelsong.
Vogelsong is a bit of a controversial choice for the Game 4 start, with ace Madison Bumgarner having volunteered to go on short rest. Vogelsong's postseason chops are impressive however; he has made six playoff starts in his career, posting a record of 3-0 with a 2.16 ERA. The Giants have won all six of those starts.
"The biggest thing is the experience of curbing the emotions," Vogelsong said. "It's definitely a situation where you have to be locked into the game and your thoughts need to be on the game, but you have to take a second to look around and take it all in."
Before Game 3, there was a lot of focus on how the Royals' vaunted defense would deal with the quirks of AT&T Park, but it was their gritty offense that garnered attention, as well as their bullpen.
Eric Hosmer in particular stood out, working a tough at-bat against lefty specialist Javier Lopez that included six foul balls and ended with an RBI single up the middle. Hosmer and Co. allowed the Royals to get a lead to their bullpen, which shut the door as they have all October.
"I don't know if there's a better bullpen, because that seventh, eighth and ninth inning, and you get a tough go when you're facing those guys," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said.
