Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh doesn't believe the unusual start time for this game will affect Detroit's league-best defense overseas as they figure to prey on an injury-riddled Falcons offensive line that hasn't been able to protect quarterback Matt Ryan.
"We're not afraid to go anywhere, anyplace and go out there and play and execute what we need to get done," Suh said. "It comes from our coach. The attitude that he brings with us, understanding that it doesn't make a difference whether we're in London, or at home, or have to go to Atlanta."
That defense has rescued a Lions' offense that has sputtered at times without star wide receiver Calvin Johnson. In his absence free agent addition Golden Tate has assumed the No. 1 role; while no one would mistake Tate for Johnson, he's eclipsed 130 yards twice in the past three games and scored two touchdowns.
Johnson hasn't ruled out playing this week, and said he's improving. "I'm getting better and better on a daily basis, so we're just going to keep on that track," Johnson said. "We're going in the right direction."
The Lions' running game may be able to get going as well against a porous Falcons defensive front. "It's really close," running back Joique Bell said. "If you look at it on film, it's just one glitch that keeps us from having that explosive run, which is going to lead to more. We're right there, we just need to get over that hump."
