Where They Stand:
Michigan Wolverines (3-4, 1-2 Big Ten)
No. 8 Michigan State Spartans (-17) (6-1, 3-0 Big Ten)

The No. 8 Michigan State Spartans have been one of the least talked about Top 10 teams in the country and a win against a struggling Michigan Wolverines team will not impress anyone this year.

Coach Mark Dantonio spoke about the game against Michigan and was asked if the Spartans are content with who they and do they still have that chip on their shoulder that made them so deadly in 2013.

"We have to keep our edge regardless of who we play. If we can't do that, then we've not succeeded," Dantonio said Tuesday. "We keep it the same way we keep it with every team that we're playing against. We find a way.

"We have a method. I don't know, there is a story in every game we play, there is usually a story of some sort.”

Being in the Big Ten, Michigan State has few opportunities to impress the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, but a name like Michigan could carry some weight in a year where the Spartans' only remaining ranked opponent is the No. 13 Ohio State Buckeyes.

Michigan State will know where they stand on Tuesday as the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will release their first rankings of the season. Michigan State would be wise to run up the score on this Michigan team.

Michigan has commanded the all-time series against Michigan State 68-33-5, but the Spartans have taken five of the last six from the Wolverines. Michigan State topped this Michigan team 29-6 in 2013 as they rolled onto a Big Ten title.
