Canelo Alvarez is expected to return to the ring in May 2015 on HBO pay-per-view, and while Miguel Cotto is expected to be the next opponent, there is buzz surrounding the possibility of him facing Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.

Golovkin is coming off a victory Saturday over Marco Antonio Rubio at the Stubhub Center, which was his 18th straight knockout. Despite his increasing popularity and exciting finishes, Golovkin has struggled to find big name opponents that can elevate him to a higher profile. Alvarez would be such a name, but former WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley thinks Golovkin may bite off more than he can chew with Canelo.

"I got Canelo in that fight if they fight," Bradley said. "I say Canelo because Canelo has boxing ability. His ability to take a punch. He took a punch from a strong puncher before. His IQ for the sport if very high. He's got a lot of skills. We know what to expect from Triple-G. 'I'm going to mow you down. I'm coming to get you.'

"He's just going to come out and bring the pain. He's very composed with it, but Triple-G is very slow. I didn't know he was that slow. I thought he was quicker. When I was watching him fight this last weekend I was like 'He's very slow. Maybe he was just warming up?"

Alvarez vs. Golovkin would attract a ton of attention, but both of those fighters have their sights set on Cotto. Alvarez has the bigger name, so he's more likely to get the fight. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said that making Cotto-Alvarez happen is the priority right now.

"That's what we're trying to do. Have Cotto and Canelo fight, and Gennady is right there, probably could fight the winner," Arum said.

Golovkin, meanwhile, is a fighter who stays very busy. He appears headed for a fight in February with Martin Murray.
