Conor McGregor has taken the UFC by storm this year, and now he's drawing attention away from Saturday's featherweight championship fight by engaging in verbal sparring with top contender Chad Mendes.

In the video which can be seen at the bottom of the page, Mendes appeared on "Beyond the Octagon" on BT Sports via video on Tuesday and had a heated exchange with McGregor, who just happened to be in the studio. Mendes challenged McGregor's wrestling abilities, asking, "Do you even know what wrestling is?"

"I'll rest my balls on your forehead," McGregor shot back.

McGregor has worked his way into title contention through his exciting fighting style and brash, charismatic trash-talking. The Irish contender is coming off a first-round TKO of Dustin Poirier, who was ranked fifth in the featherweight division, in September, his second straight first-round finish.

McGregor said he will be in attendance at UFC 179 this Saturday in Brazil, where Mendes will face champion Jose Aldo for the 145-pound title. Fans are less interested in the actual fight than they are to see whether "Notorious" enters the octagon after the fight to challenge the winner. McGregor has already declared himself the number-one contender in the division.

"I am the number one contender, it's that simple." McGregor said when asked about the featherweight division, according to BloodyElbow.com. "I hold the key to the biggest gate, the biggest attendance, to football stadiums. I'm not holding back, I'm not sitting and waiting. We have spoken with (UFC President) Dana (White), (CEOs) Lorenzo (Fertitta) and Uncle Frank (Fertitta). When you have that backing, you have control."
